Catering can be a huge part of a wedding budget so looking for less formal catering ideas than your traditional three course wedding breakfast can be a great way to help ensure costs are kept within a reasonable parameter. A lot of street food is served from creative and quirky vehicles which fit in perfectly with a relaxed, outdoor wedding vibe. Not to mention the awesome photo opportunities they create!

Here’s our pick of a few different options to create some inspiration (whilst hopefully not making you too hungry!) for either your main wedding meal or, if you’d rather stick with something more traditional for the main wedding breakfast, a street food van could be a great choice for evening food.

#1: Pizza

Who doesn’t love pizza?! It’s also a great way of feeding large groups of people (not to mention soaking up alcohol for those guests who might have had one too many!). You can also cater for those with dietary requirements by having gluten free dough or meat and cheese free toppings for any vegetarians and vegans. Our director, Andy had pizza at his Tipi wedding so we can vouch, first hand, for its popularity! Try The Mobile Pizzeria (https://www.themobilepizzeria.com/), who not only have Land Rover Defender pizza ovens but they can also cater for your whole event, offering a range of different menus for every budget and taste.

#2: Burgers

Food served from an awesome Airstream-styed unit? Hell yes! Duffs Diner (http://duffsdiner.co.uk/) can offer a variety of different burger options including, beef, lamb, turkey, mushroom, pepper and halloumi. They can also provide other menus, including Indian, Thai, Italian, and breakfast options. Again, another great option for feeding lots of hungry wedding guests. We’ve tasted their food and can certainly vouch for it 😊.

#3: Tacos / burritos / Vietnamese

Coco Dining (http://www.cocodining.co.uk/) are part of Jacaranda Catering (http://jacarandacatering.com/) and serve street food from their wonderful converted vintage French catering vans. With options such as Vietnamese bahn mi, tacos, burritos, quesadillas, sushi and noodle bowls they take street food wedding and event catering to a new level! There really is something for everyone.

#4: Hog roasts

Hog roasts are hugely popular for weddings and events and are a great way of feeding a large number of people without costing the earth. The Party Pigs (https://thepartypigs.co.uk/) can provide a full hog roast, lamb roast, beef roast and BBQ banquet. They can also provide superb side salads, canapés and delicious homemade desserts so you don’t have to worry about any additional food.

#5: Fish & Chips

Sticking with good old British fish & chips is another great option for feeding people on a budget. And there’s not many folks that don’t enjoy battered fish and chips! Complete with curry sauce and or mushy peas, what’s not to like? Just don’t spill any on your wedding dress! Try: Moby Dicks (http://www.mobydicks.net/).

#6: Ice cream

Mr Whippy with a flake for you and all your guests? Yes please! We can’t imagine that there will be many of your guests who don’t get up to the ice cream van and have one of these! Not to mention the awesome photo opportunities of you and your newly married other half serving from the van! Our number one choice for ice cream suppliers are Mrs Whippy and Little Miss Whippy from Pinks Vintage Ice Cream (https://www.pinks-vintage-icecream.co.uk/) – we’ve lost count of how many of their ice creams we’ve eaten over the years (tipi building is a hungry business!). Along with the traditional Mr Whippy, they also supply old school classic lollies and sweets. As well as locally sourced artisan ice cream in a variety of flavours from one of their ice cream bikes.

Given you a flavour for other catering ideas? We’ve worked with a number of suppliers over the years so if you’d like a more extensive list of caterers, let us know and we can send one over to you 😊. Check out our “Suppliers we Love” page for more inspo as well!

Want any more info / assistance? We’re always happy to help, so please do get in touch 😊.
